PS2 game FMVs are encoded on the disc as PSS files. Some programs can easily find them but for games like Final Fantasy X and X-2, they are hidden. This guide should help you rip footage that is hidden.

PS2 的電影CG全都藏在光碟裏面的 PSS 文件之中。大部分遊戲光碟的PSS文件都是可見的，但也有部分是被隱藏起來（如 FF 系列）。這份教學將會解釋怎樣 RIP 隱藏起來的影像。


Programs you need / 需要的程式:

◆ DVD Decrypter
◆ Daemon Tools 3.47
◆ PSS Demux
◆ Nova software extractor

◆ Virtualdub (Divx/Xvid encoding)
◆ XVID


Step 1: Ripping the PS2 Disc

1。Insert PS2 disc into DVD-ROM/Burner
2。Run DVD Decrypter
3。Go to Mode >> ISO >> Read
4。Go to File >> Decrypt
5。Save the ISO to Hard Drive

Step 2: Extracting the PSS files

1。Run Daemon Tools 3.47
2。Left click the Daemon Tray Icon >> Device >> Select the ISO
3。Find where the PSS files is >> Copy them to a folder in your Hard Drive (HD)

By the end you should have a list of PSS or MPG files copied/extracted from the ISO.







Step 3: Coverting the PSS files to MPEG2


1。Run PSS demux 1.05
2。Open the folder that contains the extracted files.
3。Drag and drop any number of PSS or MPG files to the player box.
4。Wait till finish.

By the end you would have a list of soundless M2V + WAV files in the same PSS/MPG folder.
Next you will have to use VirtualDub to combine the MOVIE + SOUND back together.







Step 4: Converting the MPEG2 stream to avi



1。Run VirtualDub。
2。File >> Open Video file >> open a m2v file.
3。Audio >> Browse for audio.. >> open the wav file.
4。Play the video to see if the sound fits with the movie.
5。Video >> Compression >> select XVID >> Configure >> Encoding Type: Single Pass >> Target Quantizer : 4.00 or 2.00 >> click OK twice to save and exit configuration.

6。File >> Save as AVI

Congratulations! Now you have successfully combined/encoded 1 movie!!
Go ahead open another m2v file and repeat the above actions to encode another one!




Final Tip

But of course, it is POSSIBLE to watch PSS without doing any converting. Simply go get the PSS PLAYER. This program can view PSS file directly from computer or DVD-ROM.
